‘The Inbetween’ and ‘Amberforms’ are a series of Luminograms - created by drawing with light over photographic paper with a handmade tool similar to a fibre optic device. Traces of light record a moment of transformation, change and decay, as a result of light physically accumulating on the paper’s surface.
Working serially allows for an intense temporal shift beyond the static single image. Repetition produces variations in movement, exposure and development. The series draws on ideas of optics and perception, with the resulting abstract images reminiscent of visual phenomena such as the phosphenes and floaters behind our eyes.
